The Cove

Well, if you haven't noticed already, I've added a gadget on my blog. We just finished watching this documentary. IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THIS PLEASE RENT IT TONIGHT!!!!! Then get on-line, send a letter to our leaders, send out some emails, make a difference.

I was astonished at the mere courage these people took to expose dolphins being slaughtered. But it's more than that. It's the morale to do what is right. These people took a huge risk that could have killed their careers, their security of life, and any social standing in today's world because they fought for what they felt was right. And it is right. It's more than just freeing dolphins. It's politics. But it's more than politics. It's tradition. But it's more than tradition. It's the refusal to see a better solution, to see someone else's side. That's the same game in politics. Blue, Red: Elephants and Donkeys. We can't negotiate, we can't see another's point or try to come up with a REAL solution, we have to go around acting like a bunch of pea-brained elephants and idiologic...donkeys. Anyway, back to the movie.

It's incredible to see such a narrow view and a simple solution that would benefit not only the environment, but our global health, and economic standing. This documentary was more than just tree-hugging-save the whales-stuff. This is about the way WE think. The way people think. From big government to the media to the everyday commoner. The way we easily get caught up in our day-to-day living, caring about only our lives and those that live in our realm. Do we get involved? Are you okay in letting children eat meat that is toxic to their health? Let me put it this way, are YOU okay letting your child eat contaminated meat? Are you okay with politicians get away with lies to make a buck?

All I'm saying is, is that we need to get involved. The best way is to get educated. Read the news, now who your leaders are. Let your voice be heard. Be a voter. For most of my life I've been unaware of the world around me. I only voted when I was 18 because my neighbor practically dropped me off at the both and I voted republican because that was what my parents were. I had no idea what was going on outside of my bubble. Well, if we decide to be like that, we don't deserve to be americans. DON'T BE A BUBBLE DWELLER!!

Okay, really long blog. Lots of soap dishes lately. Hopefully I can get past this really passionate stage I've seemed to enter into. But really, this movie was great. After you get done, take some time to do what you think is right. I mean, they make it so easy. Go to a site, push a button, push a button, bingo, done. It's not like you have to hand postage a petition to the White House. Better yet, sign your name to this gadget thing on my blog. See, so easy and you've made a difference.

  1. You want to get even more irritated? Watch Food Inc. Seriously, I've never been more ashamed of legislators in my entire life than I was when I walked out of that movie. I cried. In a movie about food production. Not just cried, but SOBBED. Maybe you shouldn't watch it... but no, really, you should.
